Senior Opus Singers (SOS) started up in 2014 with the goal of performing for seniors at their residences or at events in the community. Since then we have performed over two hundred concerts to the delight of our diverse audiences.
SOS is open to women of any age who are available during the day and interested in singing in a friendly, relaxed environment. No previous choir experience is necessary . . . just the love of singing and the willingness to share that with others.
We sing a variety of music; mostly familiar songs from the '20s to the '80s. Our music is in 2 or 3 parts and we use recorded accompaniment. We keep the rehearsing to a minimum while spending as much time as possible performing for others. We have four general programs and two Christmas ones. The hardest part when you first join is learning all the music. After that, being away for chunks of time is not a problem . . . you can just pick up where you left off.Rehearsals take place on Tuesday afternoons in Langley, but performances could be any day of the week . . . and occasionally on weekends.
